We spoke to Maeve Ward, Secured Lending Sales and Operations Director at Shawbrook Bank, about good practice within the industry and why the Financial Reporter Awards are so important for Shawbrook.

FR: What impact has winning a Financial Reporter award had on your business?

Winning the ‘Best Secured Loan Lender’ award for the past two years has had a very positive impact on our business. It demonstrates to the industry that we are the leading lender and that to work with Shawbrook Secured is to work with the best.

FR: What advice would you give to this year's potential winners?

Rather than resting on your laurels, use the win as catalyst to strive forward in making improvements to your business and the outcomes that you provide to your customers.

FR: Why is it so important to recognise good practice within the industry?

Recognising good practice in the industry is vital to ensure that businesses are constantly striving to be the best that they can be. It also shines a light on those business and individuals who have worked tirelessly over the past year, giving them a well-deserved moment in the spotlight.

FR: Why should you win an award again this year?

Shawbrook Secured should win the ‘Best Secured Loan Lender’ award because not only have we brought a host of innovative products to market, providing more finance options to a wider range of customer groups, but we have also launched a bespoke processing platform that helps us to deliver an award-winning service to our valued broker partners, with 3rd party integration the cost is absorbed by us which means operating it costs less to process a deal for Shawbrook which in turn means brokers can reduce their broker fee which is a great outcome for the customer.

FR: Any advice for Winners’ Party attendees?

It’s a fabulous, laid back evening to catch up with everyone in the industry, so take the time to enjoy yourselves and best of luck to all the nominees.
