Towergate Insurance appoints head of legal indemnities
Independent insurance brokers Towergate Insurance Brokers has expanded its Welsh team by appointing a new head of legal indemnities.

Dafydd Jonathan will lead Towergate’s legal indemnities department, working with solicitors, surveyors and property developers across the UK, providing insurance solutions for a range of risks that affect good title to property and/or land, such as restrictive covenants, rights to light and judicial review.
Dafydd also specialises in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) insurance products and will provide insurance advice to both corporate solicitors and their clients. Property often encompasses M&A transactions, which means Dafydd will work closely with both real estate and corporate solicitor teams.
Dafydd studied law at undergraduate and master’s level and completed the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University. He has experience from working in the legal profession for a number of years, before then moving into the insurance world.
Dafydd said: “Towergate Insurance Brokers is one of the UK’s most prominent independent insurance brokers and risk management advisors. This gives me a great opportunity to grow the existing client base whilst aiding my personal development.
“Predicting behaviours in the property and M&A market is never an easy thing, especially since the market has changed significantly during the pandemic. Right to light insurance has certainly felt pressure, and the risk of insolvency has certainly driven M&A activity in previous years. Solicitors and their clients will need the best advice possible when dealing with these transactional risks, and I’m looking forward to providing that alongside the Towergate team.”
Gary Stevens, managing director for Wales at Towergate Insurance Brokers, said: “I am delighted to welcome Dafydd to the Towergate Wales team. He is one of the very few legal indemnities and M&A insurance products specialists in Towergate, given his expertise and knowledge in the sector. He will be a great asset and I’m sure he’ll thrive here”.
