Shepherds Friendly revamps income protection plan
Mutual society Shepherds Friendly has announced that its income protection plan has been awarded a 5 star rating by independent ratings experts, Defaqto.
"We are confident that these latest additions will only further increase its popularity amongst members and advisers alike."
The rating comes at the same time as the mutual has introduced a number of key enhancements to its plan, based on research amongst both intermediaries and members.
Members now have more choice, with a two-year short-term benefit option available, as well as the standard long-term plan. It also allows members to add a career break and house person’s benefit.
The maximum term of the plan has also been increased to age 70 with an option to index-link benefits in line with the Retail Price Index.
Ann-Marie O’Dea, CEO of Shepherds Friendly, commented: “The coveted 5 Star Rating is a well-deserved achievement for Shepherds Friendly. It recognises the high quality of the features provided by our Income Protection plan, and we are confident that these latest additions will only further increase its popularity amongst members and advisers alike.”
