UnderwriteMe lets intermediaries get underwritten “buy now” prices, as well as simple quick quotes, and allows applications to be made to a range of insurers, using one common application process.
The move means that all 300 of L&C's Mortgage & Protection advisers will be using UnderwriteMe to offer protection to their clients, and is expected to go live in six months.
Phil Jeynes, Head of Sales & Marketing at UnderwriteMe, said:
"L&C is recognised as being at the forefront of good protection advice and has always been committed to offering well tailored protection solutions to their mortgage clients. To have L&C make UnderwriteMe an integral part of their sales process is another great step forward for the market as a whole, as we move towards a better experience for intermediaries and customers alike."
Michael Aldridge, Sales Director for London & Country, commented:
"The decision to re-engineer our current, successful, protection process was not one we took at all lightly. However being able to quote, underwrite and apply through one process is a real market first and something we cannot ignore.
"Our focus is always on providing the best for our clients, both in terms of product and process. UnderwriteMe makes it even easier for our advisers to fulfil this aim.
"We expect this to be the start of a long and rewarding partnership."
UnderwriteMe’s comparison service pilot started in August with protection specialists, LifeSearch and will be on general release to directly authorised intermediaries in 2016.
Currently, seven insurers are committed to being represented on the service: LV=, Royal London, Canada Life, Partnership, Scottish Friendly, Exeter Family Friendly and Old Mutual Wealth.
