The 5 new additional ABI+ conditions are:
- Heart attack
- Benign brain tumour
- Coronary artery by-pass grafts
- Heart valve replacement or repair
- Coma.
These enhancements have also been extended to its children's critical illness product at no extra cost.
In addition to these enhancements, Friends Provident will pay out 20% of the client's sum assured or £15,000, whichever is less, in the event of a total mastectomy to treat a carcinoma in situ of the breast. This additional cover will not reduce the original sum assured should the client need to make a further claim.
Ed Stuart-Brown, head of protection said:
"As a key provider of critical illness cover for the last 20 years I am delighted that we are continuing to develop and enhance our product. With the addition of mastectomy cover and 5 new conditions at ABI+ level it really highlights how we are striving to go above and beyond the industry standard to provide a comprehensive critical illness product for our customers."
