Practical Protection Podcast: The state of mortgages

This time, Roy and special guest Martin Stewart from the London Money Group joined me for an episode to talk about the mortgage world and the importance of protection insurance.

Martin gives an insight into what is going on in the mortgage market recently, and explains how it has changed over the years. He also shares with us his thoughts on the importance of protection insurance, it's positive to hear this coming from a person working within the mortgage space.

We think there is definitely a need for more mortgage advisers to be recommending protection insurance, or referring to a protection adviser who can really give the best possible advice.

Working in the protection industry, we get a lot of questions which to us might seem straight forward, which really does show a great need for the industry as a whole to be taking action to educate people more. This includes both advisers and consumers. We also think there should be essential training, or even a specific qualification, before a person can advise on protection insurance.

When we think of mortgages we tend to think of life insurance, but with the average person in the UK having just three weeks of savings to live on, there’s definitely a need for income protection insurance.
