Meet your FRWRA judges: James Tucker
As the nominations period for our Women's Recognition Awards continues, we're bringing you a closer look at our judges and why they chose to be involved in our inaugural Awards programme.
"It's important that we as an industry recognise the contributions made by those women who strive to succeed in what is unquestionably still a male dominated sector"
FR: Why did you decide to join the judging panel of the Financial Reporter Women’s Recognition Awards?
It's important that we as an industry recognise the contributions made by those women who strive to succeed in what is unquestionably still a male dominated sector, in order to help inspire others to do the same.
FR: Why is gender parity in financial services so important, and what more could be done to ensure equality?
As a father of two girls I am determined to show them that gender should be no barrier to success, and equality is something that we should all feel responsible for encouraging.
FR: Tell us one woman who has inspired you, in or outside of financial services, and why.
Maria Harris. She is a true advocate within Women In Finance and an inspiration to other senior women, or indeed women that would like to progress into senior roles. Maria is a superb public speaker and is passionate about technology and diversification.
FR: Why is it just as important for men to be involved in the push for gender equality?
Those women I have and continue to work with have made hugely valuable contributions to my business - anyone who is blind to the value of a diverse working culture is doing their business, and themselves, a disservice.
FR: And lastly, why should people vote in the 2018 Financial Reporter Women’s Recognition Awards?
This is a great opportunity for us all to encourage continued diversity in financial services.
