Ahead of World Earth Day on 22nd April, the Brightstar Group has announced that it has become certified as a carbon neutral business by Carbon Neutral Britain.

Last year the Brightstar Group, which includes Brightstar Financial and Sirius Property Finance, partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to calculate carbon emissions across the group. These emissions have now been calculated and offset via the Woodland Fund Portfolio of carbon offsetting projects around the world.

The Brightstar Group will also receive a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) to help it to reduce future emissions.

Founded in 2020, Carbon Neutral Britain's projects have already offset more than 500,000 Tonnes of COâ‚‚e and planted over 3 million trees, helping to stop climate change and providing essential forest habitats for endangered wildlife.

William Lloyd-Hayward, COO at the Brightstar Group, said: “We are delighted to once again be leading the way within the specialist distribution sector in achieving this landmark Carbon Neutral status for the Brightstar Group. A huge thank you and well done to our Carbon Neutral Working Group, led by Ben Hall, who has brought together people from across Brightstar and Sirius in a collaborative effort to achieve this status for the Group. ESG isn’t just an acronym to us, it is a thread that runs through the culture in our business. This is just the beginning for us as we now focus on how we can continue to make a real and genuine positive impact on our environment.”

Ben Hall, head of admin at Sirius Property Finance and Group Carbon Neutral Lead, added: “Brightstar Group takes great pride in demonstrating corporate and social responsibility, leading by example to promote positive change within our industry and society. As a business that assists our customers with making long-term decisions and commitments, it is only right that we now look to the future and examine the impact of our activities and behaviour on our shared global environment. Achieving carbon neutral certification is the first step of our ongoing commitment to monitor and minimise the impact of our business and I am proud to be part of this crucial effort.”
