Focussing on funeral plans and retirement advice, Spooner will use his experience and knowledge of the retirement sector to contribute to the successes of the team. With experience across different distribution models, Spooner’s knowledge has been gained working across sectors such as lending, broking and charity.

Working as a consultant, Gatenby has experience dealing with both UK and US banks, and has dealt with many specialist lenders throughout the UK. With his experience of managing operational teams and call centres, Martin wishes to expand on the structure within the partnerships team.

Age Partnership’s head of partnerships, Adam Carnall, said: “I am delighted to have both Martin and Mark on board. Age Partnership is going from strength to strength and we are now the UK's number one equity release broker. There is a greater awareness of later life lending options in the market, and advisers that don’t specialise in later life advice are partnering with brokers to offer a holistic service to their clients.

“Whether it be because of a shortfall at the end of an interest-only mortgage or greater aspirations going into retirement, customers should be made aware of all the options available to them. I’m excited to see how our new recruits can contribute to this healthy growth, they are both welcome additions to the team.”
