Nominations and applications are officially open for the Financial Reporter Awards (FRAs) 2026, and we want to hear from you!
If you’re thinking of applying but want to know more about the process and how to make your application stand out, check out our guide (including some tips & tricks from previous winners and finalists!) below.
How it works
There are two pathways to making an FRAs application. If you’ve been nominated by somebody else, you will receive an email providing you with a link to the FRA site, where you can add information for the judges and submit your application.
If you’re nominating yourself, you can do so using the form on the FRA homepage! You’ll then receive an email confirming you’ve started an application, and you’ll be sent a link to complete the process.
You can give us all the details our judges will need to assess your entry straight away, or you can do it at a later date. Remember, the deadline to send in applications is 20th March.
Tips & tricks
Sometimes, applying for an award can feel a bit daunting. Kate Fuller, winner of Adviser of the Year 2025, acknowledges that while "it might feel uncomfortable at times to talk about how great you think you are," it’s important to shake off that imposter syndrome: "people should know!" she adds.
So how do you show the judges why you’re among the best in the industry?
Kate Cowan, Business Leader of the Year finalist 2025 says that "the key to success is backing up your claims with solid evidence… it's not enough to simply make a statement, you need to prove it with real examples."
Mortgage Lender of the Year finalist Helen Harrison underlines the importance of "taking the time to reflect on what really sets you apart, and don’t be afraid to showcase the human side of your business as well as the numbers. The process itself is a great opportunity to evaluate your progress, and you might be surprised by how much you’ve achieved."
Meanwhile, Scottish Widows, finalist in the Protection Provider of the Year, recommends applicants to "highlight your most impressive achievements and projects […] share the journey of your business, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the milestones you’ve achieved," as well as to "seek feedback from colleagues, mentors, or industry peers before submitting your application," and to "connect with past finalists and winners," as "their experiences can provide valuable tips and inspiration."
"Don’t underestimate the value of putting yourself forward," said Emma Sheffield, finalist in the Mortgage Administrator of the Year category, "it’s a great opportunity to reflect on what you’ve achieved and celebrate your hard work.
"Be authentic in your application and let your passion shine through. Win or not, it’s a brilliant way to boost team morale, raise your profile, and connect with others in the industry," she added.
"Our advice – get involved!" said Lisa Parker from L&C Mortgages, winner of Mortgage Broker of the Year (50+ employees) 2025, "It’s a great way to take stock of all the hard work we put in every day to do the best for our customers, and being recognised by your peers is a real achievement."
