Equity Release Council strengthens Standards Board
In order to develop and strengthen its Standards Board, The Equity Release Council has appointed Liz Barclay and Jim Dredge as board members.
Liz - a non-executive director of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and the Chair of the Camden Citizens Advice Bureau – has been a journalist for over 20 years with much of those focusing on championing consumer issues. Indeed, she was a long-standing presenter on the BBC Consumer Programme – You and Yours.
Jim has over 30 years of experience in the financial services sector primarily gained with Lloyds TSB and the Financial Services Authority and has played a pivotal role in raising the profile of financial education.
These new appointees will bring their considerable experience to support the Chair of the Standards Board – Chris Pond – as he works to implement the standards and consumer safeguards that are an integral part of the organisation’s ethos. In addition, they will play a key role in developing the existing standards framework to better represent the expanded membership and then governing compliance with these standards.
Chris Pond, Chairman of the Equity Release Council Standards Board, commented:
“Our standards and consumer safeguards are at the core of what the Council stands for so these appointments are excellent news for the equity release industry. Both of the appointees brings with them a wealth of valuable experience and I look forward to working closely with them to ensure that we provide our members and consumers with the guidance and support that they need.”
