Jerrold Holdings win corporate choir competition

The team will now perform alongside the popular English symphony orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester during its highly-attended Christmas sing-along on Friday 19th December.

Now in its second year, the competition helps companies form choirs, which are then coached by Hallé conductors for several weeks.  This exercise sets to help with communication, confidence and team building in the workplace.

The competing companies rehearsed a selection of Christmas songs for several weeks to give their best performance at the finals.

Gary Jennison, deputy chief executive at Jerrold Holdings, said:

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the team here for winning the highly contended competition. The choir worked extremely hard in the weeks leading up to the competition and it really brought a sense of community and festive cheer into the workplace. They’ve been extending the merriment across the entire office and will lead the morning carol singing in reception to greet employees running up to Christmas.
 
“The choir has provided lots of laughs within the group over the past couple of months and it’s great to see the fantastic job the Hallé is doing in bringing the arts to the masses. We can’t wait to see the group perform at the Bridgewater Hall!”

Stuart Overington, the Choral Training Lead of the Corporate Choir Competition and Director of the Hallé Youth Training Choir commented:

“The standard of this year’s competition was the highest yet. Each choir brought something special and unique and made it a wonderful day of singing. Jerrold Holdings were worthy winners but each group should be proud of what they achieved and I hope that a lot of people have been inspired to keep singing.”

The competition was judged by a panel of experts including the Hallé’s Chief Executive, John Summers and Choral Director Madeleine Venner.
