Commenting, Carl Faulds, President of the IPA said:
“With the economy remaining in a fragile state and the Government looking at cutbacks across all departments, the employment market remains uncertain and consumer credit remains tight. These factors are likely to lead to a further increase in the number of unemployed which in turn will mean an increase in personal insolvencies.
"The use of IVAs has already come in for criticism and that is something that as a profession we need to address and ensure we are upholding best practice standards in all aspects of personal insolvency, including the advice debtors receive.
"We look forward to debating these issues with members, creditors and others in a business centre that has become the hub of personal insolvency specialism in the UK.”
