BSA elects new Deputy Chairman

He will take up this post immediately, becoming Chairman in November 2015 when David Cutter - current Chairman and Group Chief Executive of Skipton Building Society - steps down.

Commenting on his election, Dick Jenkins said:

“I am a huge fan of the Building Societies Association, so I am delighted that I have the opportunity to be Deputy Chairman, and Chairman later in the year. Building societies are not into glitz or gimmicks – but we are into personable service, a flexible approach, innovative products and going the extra mile for our members.

“This next year is going to be a challenge. But when is it not? The sector has just had a brilliant year, and there is much to be cheerful about. 2014 results have been overwhelmingly positive and we are punching well above our weight in terms of lending. Digital and product innovation is on the rise and members are at the forefront of our business decisions – as they should be.

“I look forward to promoting the building society cause on a local and national level to parliament, the media, stakeholders and opinion formers over this next year. Hopefully it will be a year in which difference is celebrated and diversity is championed.”
